Community Guidelines

Effective July 13, 2026 · Version 2026-07-13

1. Purpose and scope

DarkScout Community is a place to share night-sky work and organize observing sessions. These Guidelines apply to profiles, shots, event listings, join requests, chat, announcements, and other Community activity. Joining or hosting an in-person event also requires acceptance of the Event Safety Rules.

2. Treat people with respect

  • Do not harass, threaten, stalk, bully, shame, or intimidate anyone.
  • Do not post hateful or demeaning content based on identity or personal characteristics.
  • Do not impersonate another person, organization, host, or member.
  • Respect blocks, removals, declined requests, personal boundaries, and a person’s decision to leave.
  • Do not post sexual exploitation, graphic violence, illegal content, scams, spam, or malicious links.

3. Protect privacy

  • Never publish or forward a protected meeting point, access code, private address, or attendee contact detail.
  • Do not identify, photograph, record, or tag another person without their permission.
  • Share only content and personal information you have the right and permission to share.
  • Use the app’s approximate or hidden location options when an exact place should not be public.

4. Be honest and useful

Event titles, dates, access information, capacity, safety notes, and host updates must be accurate. Do not misrepresent your experience, affiliation, equipment, location access, or an event’s purpose. If conditions change, update or cancel promptly so other people can make a safe decision.

5. Keep Community events non-commercial

DarkScout Community events are for observing together. Do not sell tickets, collect fees, solicit payments, advertise paid services, or use event chat for financial transactions. Commercial events require a separate program that DarkScout does not currently offer.

6. Adults-only event participation

You must be at least 18 years old to request, join, or host an in-person Community event. Do not create an event for minors or invite minors through DarkScout’s event tools. This is a declaration, not identity or age verification, and members remain responsible for deciding whether and how to meet.

7. Content rights

Post only photographs, text, and other material you created or are authorized to use. Give attribution where a license requires it. Report suspected copyright or privacy violations to the contact below with enough detail for review.

8. Reports and emergencies

Use DarkScout’s report and block tools for Community concerns. Reports should be accurate and made in good faith; do not weaponize reporting against another member. DarkScout is not an emergency service. If anyone is in immediate danger, move to safety and contact the local emergency services first.

9. Enforcement

DarkScout may hide or remove content, limit features, remove someone from an event, suspend Community access, preserve relevant records, or terminate an account when reasonably necessary to enforce these Guidelines, protect people, comply with law, or secure the service. Serious or repeated violations may lead to permanent removal. Context, severity, history, and credible safety risk may affect the response.

10. Changes and acceptance

The effective date and version above identify this release. If a material update changes the required version, DarkScout may ask members to review and accept the new documents before they can join or host another event.

11. Contact

For guideline, moderation, copyright, or safety-policy questions, contact sebastianmraz@gmail.com. Personal-data handling is described in the Privacy Policy.
